Acorn is a Bay Area based non-profit that empowers currently underrepresented youth in STEM by providing design training and fabrication tools.
Our unique curriculum teaches traditional math and science concepts using new design software and technology. We also provide access to fabrication tools to further enhance this curriculum with hands-on design activities for students.
We bring students' learning to life by teaching STEM through design software, hands-on building and prototyping, and having fun!
Our vision is to inspire youth with these skills and tools so that they begin to see themselves as designers, and go back to their communities to engineer, design, and create ideas and solutions!
Bringing learning to life by teaching math and science through design.
Our lessons teach basic Geometry, Algebra, and Engineering Design using Autodesk Fusion 360, a 3D design software. We provide this course in the form of a comprehensive, user-friendly eBook so that anyone learn with us from anywhere!
3D Design Training
We provide extensive training for educators using our curriculum to get them up to speed with Fusion 360 and personalize our curriculum to match their classrooms.
To further enhance our curriculum, our goal is to make makerspaces and technology accessible to students at under-resourced schools. We are currently learning and researching how to develop a financially-sustainable business model that will allow these schools/students to have access to such technology, so that hands-on learning and creating becomes a consistent part of their education!
If you are a makerspace, school, library, or tech company, talk to us and help us with our research into building a better business model!
